A First Encounter with a Rainbow
For the first time in my life, I witnessed an extraordinary rainbow. Standing in Poland, I could see it stretching clearly from one edge to the other, almost as if it were right in front of me.
A Second Arc Above the First
Above the bright main rainbow was a second, softer arc, visible like a natural lens flare suspended in the sky. It was fainter, more delicate, and easy to miss at first glance, but once I noticed it, the whole scene felt even more unreal.
That second band is known as a secondary rainbow. It appears when sunlight bounces twice inside raindrops instead of once, which causes more light to be lost before it reaches our eyes. That is why the upper rainbow looks dimmer than the main one, even though it traces a larger arc across the sky.

Rainbows symbolize hope and promise, and witnessing such a magnificent display can leave a lasting impression.
